Night safari in Singapore, the first ever nocturnal zoo of the world, is a fantastic tourist attraction of Singapore. Dr Ong Swee Law, who was the executive chairman of Singapore Zoo, first came up with an idea of a nocturnal park, way back in 1980s. This idea finally materialized on 26th may in the year 1994, when this Night Safari was opened in Singapore. Built at a cost of about S$63 million, this Night Safari occupies an area of around 40 hectares. The area that this nocturnal zoo occupies is that of the secondary rain forest neighboring the Singapore zoo and the Upper Selator Reservoir. There are over 1,000 animals in this Night Safari that fall under 120 different species. About 29% of these belong to the threatened variety. Wildlife Reserves of Singapore manages this awesome nocturnal zoo. Over a million visitors come to witness the charm of this nocturnal zoo every year. Visitors especially love the nocturnal faunae, from fiery predators to demure creatures, in the dark night. The enigma and mystery of the tropical forest comes to life at sunset.
